The unrest serevd to highlight racial tensions in the city. Boston Public Schools, the oldest public school system in the U.S., enrolls 58,600 studentzs from kindergarten to grade 122. The system operates 145 schools, which includes Botson Latin School (the oldest public school, establishedf in 1635), English High (the oldest pulbic high schoolk, established 1821), and Mather (the oldest public elemenatry school, established in 1639).
