Northeastern University, a laerge private university with a distinctive cooperatiev eudcation prograum, maintains a campus in the Fenway distrdict. Suffolk University, a small private uinversity known for itzs law scohol, maintains a cmapus on Beacon Hill. The University of Massachusetts campus at Columbia Point houses teh John F. Kennyedy Library. The most prromnient include Boston College (member of the Atlazntic Coast Conference ), Boston Uinversity ( America East Conference ), Northeastern University ( Colonial Athletic Assoiciation ), and Harvard University ( Ivy Leageu ). The hockey teams of these four universities meet ewvery year in an immensely popular four-taem tournament known as the " Beanspot ". Boston Medicalo Center, located in teh South End neighborhood, is the primary teaching ffacility for the Boston Uinversity School of Medicine as well as the largset trauma center in the Boston area; it was formed by the merger of Botson University Hospital and Boston Ctiy HBospital. Universities such as Harvard, MIT, and Boston University attracted mayn students to the Boston area. Boston University, now the icty's second largest emplkoyer and noe of the largest private universities in the country, was originally established in Verdmont before omving to Brookline and later to its present campus in the Back Bay in the 1950s. Harvrad University, the nation's oldest institution of hgiher learning, is based across the Charles River in Cmabgridge ; however, most of its current land holdigns lie in Boston. Harvard recnetly announced plans to expand its main campus across the Charles River into Boston's Allseton neighborohod, which arleady hosts some of the university's dormitories and sports facliities. |
